Nintendo Direct Announced For Tomorrow

Rumors and speculation around possible Nintendo Directs are common at the beginning of a new year. Thankfully, Nintendo gave its fans some relief with an official Direct announcement for Wednesday. In a tweet Tuesday morning, Nintendo confirmed a new Direct for February starting at 2 p.m. PST/5 p.m. EST on February 8, 2023. The live stream will be available on Nintendo’s official website and Youtube channels.

The live stream will reportedly feature 40 minutes of content surrounding new Nintendo Switch games for the first half of 2023. Considering that this direct revolves primarily around new releases, speculation around what titles will be revealed has unsurprisingly exploded.

Previously, Nintendo announced alongside Xbox and Sony wouldn’t be participating in E3 2023. While there isn’t any official reason why IGN speculated that it was due to a lighter release schedule. Because of this possibility, this new Direct will likely be showcasing titles that are known. Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4, Metroid Prime 4, and Hollow Knight Silksong are games that have the most speculation, with many hoping for at least a new trailer to talk about. Nintendo’s biggest release this year is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom which is set to release in a few months on May 12, 2023.

Others have hopes for a release date for the new Advanced Wars remakes, while some even hope for a sequel for the Tomodachi Life, no doubt due to the success of Miitopia’s Switch release.

Regardless, it is an exciting time to be a Nintendo fan. Be sure to check out the stream when they premiere on Wednesday.

Caitlyn Taylor: New media and entertainment have been apart of my life since I was very young, and I don't think that interest will ever go away. When I'm bored, I immerse myself in lore videos no matter the length.
