Today, during the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed and announced a brand-new game starring Princess Peach. The new game is set to release in 2024.
This marks the third game to feature Princess Peach as the main playable character. Princess Toadstool’s Castle Run released back in 1990 for the Nelsonic Game Watch. In 2005, Super Princess Peach was released for Nintendo DS. The game follows Peach’s trip to Vibe Island to rescue Mario and Luigi who were kidnapped by Bowser.
Not much was revealed for this new title other than the release window of 2024. The short teaser trailer shows Princess Peach attacking enemies while traveling through a dark city on her way to a withered cherry blossom tree that she uses her magic to bloom back to life. Afterward, we see Peach walking on to a platform that transports her to a stage. There, she undergoes a Sailor-Moon-style magical transformation.
This was not the only Mario-related thing revealed during today’s Direct. Nintendo also announced a Switch release for Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon coming in 2024, WarioWare: Move It! coming on November 3, 2023, a Super Mario RPG remake launching on November 17, 2023, and a new 2D side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. game called Super Mario Bros. Wonder which launches on October 20, 2023.
