Ninja Theory Starts Laying Off Developers Following XBOX’s Agreements Falling Through

We are still waiting to see what’s going to happen with Ninja Theory. Last month, XBOX shared and announced the second wave of changes as it continues its reset under new leadership. Unfortunately, things are not looking good for Ninja Theory. After being one of the several studios that were let go by XBOX, things are still up in the air. XBOX announced that several agreements were in place that would keep the studio running but those fell through, leaving the studio’s fate up in the air. The situation has taken another turn as Ninja Theory has laid off staff following the announcement. Several employees have shared on LinkedIn that they were either facing redundancy or have already been let go.

Technical Sound Designer Alessio Mellina, Gameplay Programmer Katrin Mair, PCap Tech Staff Xoe Subari, Technical Director Loong-Wei Ding, Sound Designer Matteo Tummino, Senior Technical Artist Matt Le-Fevre, Character Artist Piereo Berto, Technical Artist Justin Pedersen, and Principal Sound Designer Daniele Galante, have confirmed that their jobs are at risk or have been let go.

“After four years, it’s hard to put into words how much this place and the people in it have meant to me,” Katrin Mair wrote. “I’ve learned an incredible amount, grown so much as a programmer, and had the chance to work with some genuinely brilliant people.

“What I’ll remember most is how much people cared. About the work, about the details, and about each other. I feel very lucky that this was the place where I got to start my career and grow into the programmer I am today.

“It’s incredibly sad knowing that we won’t get to finish what we were working on. So much care, talent and effort went into it, and I really wish we’d had the chance to see what it could have become.”
