The second Pokémon Go fest of the summer took place this past weekend in Dortmund, Germany. Niantic found ways to include players worldwide in the festivities through another Global Challenge in-game event, which challenged players to complete as many Research Tasks as possible. All completed Research Tasks were counted toward the players’ teams, as each team had a quota to fill to earn certain in-game bonuses.
Now that each team has fulfilled their quota, players can expect a number of prizes for a limited time. From now until 1 PM PT on July 16, players will receive triple the standard amount of XP for catching Pokémon and hatching eggs. Additionally, players who participate in Raids will receive twice as much XP as normally given. Lastly, Lucky Eggs, which double the amount of XP players earn for a certain period of time, will last for an hour rather than just half an hour.
Aside from XP and item bonuses, Niantic also promised a Legendary Pokémon Raid: Entei, one of the Legendary Pokémon from Pokémon Gold and Silver, will return to five-star Raids this weekend. Entei Raids will occur from 4 to 7 PM local time on Sunday July 14. Shiny Entei may even appear. During this time, players can also receive up to five free Raid Passes, which is needed to participate in Raid Battles.
Entei isn’t the only Legendary Pokémon getting the spotlight in Raids this month. To commemorate the release of the new film, Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution, a CG remake of the very first Pokémon movie, a special Armored Mewtwo will be available in five-star Raids from now until 1 PM PT on July 31. There will also be new Trainer customization items in the game’s Style Shop for players to show their love of Mewtwo.
The final Pokémon Go fest of the summer will take place on August 6 through 12 in Yokohama, Japan.
