Even though Cyberpunk 2077 is not on the shelves yet, CD Projekt Red is already planning for their next project: A Witcher franchise. A report from Eurogamer Poland (and translated by IGN) states that Adam Kicinski, president of CD Projekt, has also alluded to the next game being in the Witcher series. According to the report, a new game set in the world of the Witcher series is set to start production after the release of Cyberpunk 2077 (on September 17th,2020). According to the posts, here is what we can decipher so far;
- CD PROJEKT Red has confirmed that a new game — highly implied to be a Witcher title — will enter development after Cyberpunk 2077.
- The company anticipates this game will take around four years to finish development.
- It will be a high-quality RPG and will not be called “The Witcher 4.”
Adam Badaowski also released a statement on Twitter saying that their main focus is on Cyberpunk (especially since the game has already been delayed once already), he did not deny that the Witcher project is next on the list. According to the original report, the game will start with a small staff on the time of its release, and from there start to move into bigger projects such as a multiplayer mode.
The Witcher is always in our hearts and minds, but currently we are fully focused on Cyberpunk 2077. When the right time comes, we will begin to talk about other projects.

Based on the time period, it is easy for fans to prepare it coming out on the upcoming next-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X). The Witcher is one of the most populated RPG games, having recently been made available for Nintendo Switch. The previous Witcher games have also been updated with PC cross-save features.
Whatever and whenever the next Witcher game might be, do not expect Geralt to be in it. CD Projekt Red has clarified that the last game (number 3) will be the end of his story and it will likely stay that way for a very long time. However, fans of Geralt will be able to watch him in the second season of Netflix’s The Witcher, which is set to premiere in 2021.
