New Wave Toys Unveils First Look At 1942 & 1943 RepliCade Arcade Machines

New Wave Toys, the company behind recreating the authentic arcade experience has revealed the first look at two new upcoming arcade machines. The next batch of RepliCades will be focused on two games, 1942 & 1943: The Battle of Midway. Both will also come with an additional arcade stick for two-player action.

The updated 1942 x RepliCade will be a 1/6th scale ROMSTAR/CAPCOM lowboy arcade machine. It will feature two fully-playable arcade classics by Yoshiki Okamoto, 1942 and 1943: The Battle of Midway. The machine will also come with a 1943 Arcade Stick for two-player action.

1942 was originally released back in 1984. The game is focused and centered on World War II and fighter jets as players take on the role of a jet named Super Ace. The mission is to try and eliminate Japan’s Tokyo Air Force Base. Players can also access power-ups that assist them to complete a level. These include calling an escort plane, receiving additional loops and rolls or quad fire, getting extra lives, shooting all opponents, and ceasing enemy fire.

1943: The Battle of Midway is the second title in the 19xx series and released three years after the original. Following 1942, players are tasked with taking out an enemy battleship. The game has 16 levels divided into five stages. Changing things up for the sequel, 1943 had four different weapons that players can choose from. Exploding shells can destroy small enemy planes with one shot, the shotgun is the standard weapon, the three-way gun can take out multiple enemies in multiple directions, and the auto weapon can send out a large number of rounds in a short period. 1943 also introduced special icons that players to collect for special weapons or bonus points.

The second arcade machine also comes with both 1942 and 1943: The Battle of Midway as well as the 1943 arcade stick. The 1943 x RepliCade Overhaul Edition Dynamo cabinet also in 1/6th scale features a unique coin door security bar, yellow T-molding, red color mini bat top joystick, and more.

Anyone interested in either of these two cabinets can sign up to the New Wave Toys email list at the bottom of their official website to be the first to know when pre-orders for the RepliCades go live.
