New Video Showcase State of Play Announced; Episode 1 Debuts Monday

Nintendo has the Nintendo Directs, Xbox has its monthly Inside Xbox program, and now PlayStation will be getting their own version with State of Play. State of Play is a new video program that will cover everything from the world of PlayStation.

State of Play will provide updates and announcements. They have already provided a few details about the first episode stating that it will “showcase upcoming PS4 and PS VR software, including new trailers, new game announcements, and new gameplay footage.”

Fans will be able to watch Sony’s State of Play live on Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. The VOD edition will become available shortly after the episode airs. This doesn’t look like it will be a one and done thing either as Sony has also stated that “State of Play will return throughout the year with more updates and announcements.”

No one was really sure what to think late last year when it was revealed that Sony will be skipping E3 this year. It’s usually when they take the time to share what everyone would be playing next. Earlier this year, Shaun Layden explained why they made that decision. Everyone was sure that they would get ready and gear themselves up for next generation, but everyone in the gaming community hasn’t been sure how they go about announcing it. Now, it seems we have our answer.

Nintendo has shown that this type of delivery system of information is extremely effective. They also have shown that these types of programs can focus on one game and provide everyone with a lot of information without giving away everything.

As far as what they might show off during the episode on Monday, it could be a number of things. The biggest games that Sony has coming include The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, and Death Stranding, but it’s most likely that they would have saved new info on those for a possible E3 program.

The first episode of State of Play is on March 25, 2019 at 5:00 pm ET/2:00 pm PT.
