New Uncharted 4 Expansion Arrives Tomorrow: Features Co-op, Maps, Others

At 11 am et, there was a live stream that gave information about the new Uncharted 4 expansion that’s set to drop December 14. The show started off with the fact that the update will feature a Survival mode and new multiplayer content. Naughty Dog confirmed that the patch is more than 3 GB.

The multiplayer update added five new weapons, features weapons from past Uncharted games and a new heavy weapon. Characters will have new biker and warrior skins. There are 10 new levels and some chests will have price drops. There are new boosters, including a “VIP status” for players who buy Uncharted points. The new game mode is called King of the Hill and two maps have been added: Prison and Trainwreck. Prison and Trainwreck feature the music from Uncharted 2.

There will be new Trophies available for the new Survival mode. There are plans for two more Uncharted 4 multiplayer updates in the future. The Hardcore mode will be coming out sometime in 2017 and there will be matchmaking.

We already know that the Survival mode is a horde-style mode. It features 50 different waves of enemies. All of the enemies are broken up into 10 blocks, with each block featuring 5 waves. Naughty Dog designer Vinit Agarwal says that the modes will require you to spend multiple hours playing but they can be played in chunks, making it more “digestible.”

Survival is more than just killing enemies. There are five different objectives, called Survival (kill everyone), Siege (kill enemies from a certain location), Treasure Race (collect treasure spread across the map), Marked Man (kill a particular target), and Boss Waves (kill pirate ghosts). The Boss Waves will start with an intro cinematic scene setting up who the particular villain is.

One of the bosses is the pirate Henry Avery. The pirates can use Uncharted 4’s mystical abilities and each have their own tactic he or she uses.

You can play Survival with other human characters or by yourself with an AI “buddy” character who’s actually good. Agarwal says that the AI can heal you and use melee attacks.

Bryan Ingram: My name is Bryan. I just graduated from High Point University with a degree in Journalism. I'm 25 and writing has always been a part of my life. I'm a big Pokémon fan, so I'l spend a lot of my time playing that. Other than that, I love sports, particularly the Charlotte Hornets and the Carolina Panthers. No matter how bad the team is, I will always rep them.
