Over the past few weeks, bits of information have been published about how Amiibos will work with Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, but now a trailer released by Nintendo shows all the Amiibos functions in the game. The Wolf Link and Midna amiibo, which is bundled with limited editions of the game, will give players access to the new Cave of Shadows Dungeon. The Cave of Shadows looks like a series of rooms where players will have to fight off enemies as Wolf Link and Midna. The trailers says that the Amiibo will keep a record of your remaining hearts, so players can keep trying to beat their own record. Although the Cave of Shadows doesn’t look like a traditional Zelda Dungeon, it certainly is a neat addition to the game and you still have the awesome Wolf Link Amiibo figure to add to your collection.
The other Legend of Zelda Amiibo can also be used in the game. The Link and Toon Link Amiibo will refill your arrows in the game, giving players a small boost in case they need it. The Zelda and Sheik Amiibo fully restore Link’s hearts in the game, which may be a big help to first-time players. Perhaps the most interesting is the Ganondorf Amiibo, which actually makes the enemies in the game stronger. The trailer shows a normal enemies hit taking away over four hearts, so imagine what a dungeon boss will do. It looks like the Ganondorf Amiibo is for players who really want a challenge.
I got to say I really enjoy what Nintendo is doing with the Amiibo. They aren’t full characters like the Disney Infinity or Skylanders figures, but they’re more like little game companions that give players a small boost in Nintendo games. I like that you can get an Amiibo of a character you like and it can help you along a little bit in different games.
