Recently a new trailer was dropped for Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes that shows off more gameplay. If it isn’t already obvious, this game is a significant departure from other games in the No More Heroes franchise, with the style of play being more reminiscent of arcade beat ’em ups rather than hack and slash action. The trailer is named after the level it shows off, “Coffee And Doughnut”, and has some very noticeable platforming elements that tie back to the title of the level.
Platforming elements are something that No More Heroes has rarely ever had, barring some segments with Shinobu in No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. We also get a quick peek at the boss at the end of the trailer, Brian Buster Jr, who might have some connection to Speed Buster from the original No More Heroes. If this game is attempting to carry the theme of relatives of people coming to avenge those who Travis Touchdown has killed, that would certainly explain a lot.
The last time we covered Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes we had learned that there were two different sets of DLC that were coming post release. We have since learned that the DLC will include the return of Shinobu and Bad Girl as playable characters. These characters were very likely chosen because of their connection to Travis Touchdown and Bad Man, with Bad Girl being a given inclusion with what has been revealed about the plot so far. If more DLC is on the way, one can certainly expect Henry Cooldown if he isn’t already present in the game. Considering Henry Cooldown has been in every No More Heroes game released yet, it’d be more surprising if he weren’t in the game in some shape or form.
Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on January 18, 2019.
