New Trailer and Release Date for Marvel’s Wolverine Revealed During PlayStation State of Play June 2026

To start off the major State of Play announced a few weeks ago, PlayStation featured Marvel’s Wolverine by Insomniac Games. The game has been highly anticipated for years, with each new set of footage providing much discourse and excitement for fans. The newest trailer is the most complete look at a gameplay moment yet, providing new context for the combat and story.

To preface the trailer, creative director Marcus Smith introduces both the game and the situation. Wolverine, a mutant superhero, is on a mission to save other mutants from a trafficking operation set up by a group of cybernetically enhanced mercenaries called the Reavers. The trailer itself features Wolverine in his iconic yellow suit, using his tracking skills to follow one of the kidnapped mutants. The action starts off strong as Wolverine is able to dive off of a massive building to begin his attack. As he makes his way through the makeshift camp, he switches between bloody ferocity and calculated stealth to avoid being surrounded. The devastation of the attack also leaves lasting effects on the environment and stains his suit with blood.

The combat takes a turn as Wolverine is met by his fellow mutant, Jean Grey, who complement his up-close fighting style with range and shielding. He is also able to unleash attacks that affect a wider area with more enemies around him. The final gameplay segment sees Wolverine tracking down the Reavers on a motorcycle. At the end of the trailer, players catch a glimpse of other Marvel characters that know Wolverine, such as Mystique and his rival Sabertooth.

When the trailer ends, Marcus Smith confirms many of the features that the trailer showed off, including the release date of September 15th. He also announces that preorders for the game have become available in anticipation for the game’s release of PS5.
