The latest gameplay trailer for Respawn Entrainment’s highly anticipated sequel to the massively successful Titanfall, Titanfall 2 has been released. The trailer, as the title suggests, focuses on the pilots and their role in the combat of Titanfall 2. The gameplay trailer can be viewed below.
While the main focus of Titanfall has always seemed to be directed at the titular Titans, this trailer showcases just how deadly the pilots are in their own respect. Of course the biggest advantage when it comes to the pilots, outside of their Titans, is mobility. The pilots are able to navigate and shoot around the map quickly, efficiently and this shown in the trailer. The pilot’s ability to fit into hard to reach places and to at times find ways to float essentially above the map is also shown. The pilots can essentially double jump, float, and wall-run their way to quick and accurate kills. This kind of mobility is key to maintaining balance in the game, especially considering how the Titans in the game move compared to their power. So far the game looks to be living up to the hype that has built up around it due to the popularity of the first Titanfall. This is most likely due to Respawn actually constructively responding to criticism directed at them.
So far, Respawn seems to be taking fan concerns into consideration much more than the typical video game developer. While most developers are more concerned with pre-orders and releasing games on schedule despite how buggy they might be or how little server capability they have for their multiplayer option; Respawn is actually taking into consideration the concerns of the fans and this trailer shows it. Mxdwn wrote about the original tech test run of the game and Respawn’s implementations/responses resulting from the feedback; that article can be read here. Of course, it is fair to note that one should retain judgment until the game is actually released. As a consumer one should take even what they perceive as signs of positivity with a grain of salt. The good thing in the case of Titanfall 2 is that the release is not too far off.
Titanfall 2 is set to be released on October 28th. Titanfall 2 will be available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
