There has been a lot of news surrounding The Last of Us Part II recently. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it was delayed again, then some of the game’s story was leaked. At first, it was thought to be an ex- Naughty Dog employee but new information reveals that it was hackers who got into Naughty Dog’s servers. Then, as mentioned before, Director Neil Druckmann shared the news that the game has gone gold, leaving no doubt that the game is set to be released in 6 weeks.

The story of The Last of Us Part II as written on the official website is: “Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.”

The official website also highlights what makes The Last of Us Part II a “ground-breaking experience” with three things. The complex and emotional story will have players experience the escalating moral conflicts created by Ellie’s relentless pursuit of vengeance. The cycle of violence left in her wake will challenge your notions of right versus wrong, good versus evil, and hero versus villain.

The Last of Us is known for having tense and desperate action-survival gameplay. New and evolved gameplay systems in The Last of Us Part II delivers upon the life-or-death stakes of Ellie’s journey through the hostile world. Feel her desperate struggle for survival through improved features such as high-intensity melee combat, fluid movement, and dynamic stealth. A broad variety of weapons, crafting items, skills, and upgrades allows you to personalize Ellie’s capabilities to your play style.

The Last of Us Part II is set in a beautiful yet dangerous world where Ellie’s journey takes her from the peaceful mountains and forests of Jackson to the lush, overgrown ruins of greater Seattle. Encounter new survivor groups, unfamiliar and treacherous environments, and terrifying evolutions of the infected. Brought to life by the latest iteration of the Naughty Dog engine, the deadly characters and world are more realistic and meticulously detailed than ever before.

The trailer doesn’t reveal much but it does show a lot of new things that have not been seen before. It reveals more about the “violent event”. All we saw of it was just focused on what happens to Ellie and she was brutally attacked but this new trailer briefly shows what is most likely the settlement burning. What we see most is Ellie and how she will stop at nothing and wait for no one to see that she gets back at whoever is responsible and how as the synopsis put it, “confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.”

On the PlayStation Blog, Neil Druckmann writes “the pace is only going to pick up from here, so keep an eye out for more exciting news as we count the weeks, days, and hours until The Last of Us Part II launches.” Pre-orders are once again available for the game both digitally and physically after they were taken down and refunded when the game was delayed again.
