New Tekken 8 Trailer Reveals Alisa Bosconovitch

The launch of Bandai Namco’s flagship fighting game title Tekken’s latest installment Tekken 8 is fast approaching its release date of January 26, 2024. But that’s still about two weeks away, so to tide us over until then we’ve graciously received another new Tekken trailer, this time featuring Tekken 6 alumni and chainsaw robo-maid Alisa Bosconovitch.

Alisa, alongside her Tekken 6 partner Lars Alexandersson, will take a pivotal role in Tekken 8’s story as one of the main characters on Jin Kazama’s side. From a gameplay perspective, Alisa has retained all her signature and iconic characteristics, like her chainsaw arms and jet wings. Another iconic feature is her problems with her head, in that as a robot her head is constantly falling off. Tekken 8’s new systems and rage arts put a big emphasis on this running gag, with her spiking her head like a soccer ball in her rage art and using it for her heat smash.

Also funny to note with this trailer is the unique interaction she has with her buddy Jack, her head falls off and Jack just lobs it back at her. Cinematic character-specific intros are a first for the Tekken series, and most of the ones we’ve seen are both charming and transition very smoothly, which is perfect for scenarios where you’d want to let the intros play out since they don’t take too much time.

One last thing we want to point out is the stage this trailer is set on. It’s a meteor falling to Earth, and you can see both Earth in the background as well as the moon if you rotate the camera. This has interesting implications for the story mode, and considering the insane hijinks Tekken 7 got up to with Kazuya blasting a satellite out of the sky with a laser beam, it doesn’t seem too out of place for the climatic battle between Jin and Kazuya to take place in literal space.

But if you want to know for sure if the Mishima bloodline’s final battle will take place on the moon or not be sure to watch out for Tekken 8 as it launches at the end of the month on January 26, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC
