New Studio Established for Farming Simulator League Due to Coronavirus Concerns

GIANTS Software has sprouted up a new production studio in Erlangen, Germany to broadcast Farming Simulator League (FSL) competitions. The studio will also host FSL competitions as needed. This establishes a home for future tournaments in the wake of many gaming and esports events being canceled due to coronavirus concerns.

The FSL was able to expand its reach amongst esports events like DreamHack Leipzig earlier this year. The league even made its debut at Intel Extreme Masters in Katowice, Poland. However, the recent coronavirus outbreak threatened to stifle the growth of the league, as their tournament had to go on in an empty arena. The FSL website notes that they hope to play at big events in front of audiences soon, but they respect the decision. Lars Malcharek, designated FSL coordinator, spoke out about how the league plans to address issues surrounding the recent outbreak, saying, “Until then FSL tournaments will be held in our large, newly built production studio in Erlangen, Germany.”

Nevertheless, the FSL will conclude it’s debut season at Farmcon 20 in Germany at the Deutz-Fahr Arena. The new league is leaning heavy on large events, at a time where doing so is probably the least stable. Establishing this studio is a good move for the FSL, providing assurance that their games always have a place to go on no matter what. Close to $112,000 are on the line for FSL teams competing at Farmcon 20. Malcharek is excited about the future of the league despite setbacks due to the coronavirus, saying “We are looking forward to many more years of FSL together with all of you.”

Malcharek also asserts that these moves will not affect livestreams. You can find updates about how the outbreak has impacted the league on their website. You can also purchase tickets there for the league finals at Farmcon 20, which as of now is going on as scheduled.
