Two years ago, Marvel Games and Skydance New Media announced new partnership on a new title led by Amy Hennig, the creator of Uncharted. It was revealed to be a new AAA narrative-driven game that features 4 playable characters including Captain America and Black Panther. Now, during GDC 2024 at State of Unreal 2024, they have revealed a new story trailer, release window, and cast for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra follows Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s in the chaos of war. They must overcome the differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy. Fighting alongside Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in occupied Paris, they must join their forces to stop a sinister plot that threatens to turn the havoc of WWII into the ultimate rise of Hydra.

At the State of Unreal, Skydance New Media and Epic Games announced their ongoing collaboration to bring state-of-the-art visuals to Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra showcasing the latest features of Epic’s Unreal Engine 5.4.

In addition to the new story trailer, the game’s core cast was revealed. Khary Payton plays Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther. Drew Moerlein plays Steve Rogers, aka Captain America.

Megalyn Echikunwoke plays Nanali, the Wakandan sky embedded in occupied Paris. Marque Richardson plays Gabriel Jones, a U.S. soldier and member of the Howling Commandos. Lyne Renée plays Julie, a key ally in the French Resistance. Joel Johnstone plays Howard Stark.

The game will feature original music from Grammy award-winning composer Stephen Barton, best known for his work in film, television, and games, including Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Star Trek Picard, Apex Legends, Titanfall, and 12 Monkeys.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will be released in 2025.
