PlayStation says that this particular presentation will be 30 minutes of trailers and announcements. Over on the PlayStation Blog, Brett Elston, Senior Manager, Content Communications, SIE said, “we’ll have some exciting reveals from our third-party partners, plus a sneak peek at several games in development for PlayStation VR2.”
The last State of Play took place in March and primarily focused on Japanese developers. The State of Play showcased games like The Diofield Chronicle, Valkrie Elysium, and more including Returnal: Ascension, a free, new update that brought co-op and an endless tower mode to Returnal.
PlayStation VR2 was officially announced in January. Some of the features for the headset include eye-tracking, headset feedback, 3D audio, and the new PS VR2 Sense controllers. So far, we only know of one game built specifically for PS VR2. Horizon: Call of the Mountain is a brand new adventure being developed by Guerilla and Firesprite. It’s designed to push hardware technology, innovation, and gameplay that will fully immerse players into the world of Horizon. Call of the Mountain’s story will focus on an entirely new character but players will meet familar faces such as Aloy and entire new characters.
Recently, PlayStation and Sony Santa Monica revealed the accessibility features for God of War Ragnarok. It’s noteworthy because many are speculating that we may be close to seeing another look at the highly anticipated game and more importantly, a possible release date for the game. The anticipation is building even more with the news that the game has been rated in South Korea. This is one of the first of the video game rating groups that gives an official rating before getting released. Nothing official has been announced yet but this suggests that God of War Ragnarok may get released this year.
We’ll have to wait and see when Sony Interactive Entertainment announces the next PlayStation Showcase or the next game-specific State of Play.
