The spooky season is fast approaching, and with a year as long as this one, there is a lot to look forward to this Fall as horror makes a comeback. And, of course, what better way to welcome the scariest time of year than with new horror video games! Earlier today, game developer Blini Games and publisher 1C Entertainment announced Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2, which will be released on Early Access this October, just in time to usher in the Halloween spirit.
Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 will be a sequel to Lovecraft’s Untold Stories, a retro-inspired ARPG released in early 2019. And while the two games will share some mechanics and themes, most notably the Lovecraftian horror theme, there is a lot of new content for fans to look forward to when the sequel drops.
“Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 is an action RPG with rogue-like elements that continues the story where Lovecraft’s Untold Stories left off, taking the characters to a new stage on their fight against the Unknown.”
Although there is still plenty to be revealed about the sequel, the story seems to follow the bizarre painting titled “Dream Landscape”, and the terrifying events that follow its reveal. Players will get to choose from six Lovecraft-inspired characters as they dive deeper into their horrific quests. Three familiar characters will be returning from the previous game, being the Witch, the Detective, and the Professor. Three new characters, the Medium, the Alienist, and the Veteran, have decided to join the fight in this sequel as well. Each character will have unique abilities and skills that allow them to take on previously incomprehensible threats from the Beyond as they seek to uncover the mysteries behind their arrival.
And there’s more new content in addition to the inclusion of three new playable characters. In Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2, players will now get the chance to build and upgrade their own items via blueprints and crafting tables. Take the alien threat into your own hands as you improve or craft your own gear to continue hacking and slashing those… things!
One final change coming to Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 is a multiplayer feature. In the sequel, players will be able to team up online in groups of up to four players to blast away at creatures from the Beyond and unveil more secrets than ever before. So grab a friend and drag them into this mess along with you!
