[UPDATE: English Trailer And New Pokémon] New Pokémon Sun and Moon Trailer Showcases The New Pokémon In Alola Region

UPDATE: (7/1 11:50):

Along with the English trailer Nintendo also announced two other Pokémon that were previously leaked, Rockruff and Komala.

Thanks to the Pokémon website for the images and descriptions.

Rockruff is the Rock-type Puppy Pokémon with the abilities Keen Eye and Vital Spirit. Rockruff is brave and sociable, but grows more wild as it evolves. It will also rub the rocks on its neck together as a greeting or a show of fondness.

Komala is a Normal-type and is known as the Drowsing Pokémon, it has the new ability Comatose. With this ability Komala cannot be affected by any other status condition. That ability works with Komala’s narrative too, on the Pokémon site, Komala is said to be perpetually asleep, even during battles. Komala is such a sound sleeper that its saliva is used to treat insomnia.

ORIGINAL STORY: With some extra details:

Game Freak announced on Twitter that we would get new info on Pokémon Sun and Moon this Saturday on July 2nd, but after an unknown leak The Pokémon Company decided to release the Japanese trailer ahead of schedule. The trailer shows off several new Pokémon, some of which look like evolutions of previously announced creatures.

In our last post on the game, I mention a bug Pokémon named Grubbin that was shown off. In it’s bio it was said that Grubbin had an affinity for electricity, which I assumed would later play into Gubbin’s evolutions and this most recent trailer confirmed it.

(Note: Thanks to Serebii for the images)

Here is Gubbin’s middle evolution, named Charjabug, it’s a Bug/Electric-type that looks like a battery. Charjabug stays still most of the time, waiting to evolve. Charjabug is also the first Pokémon to have the ability Battery. With it Charjabug can power-up the special moves of its allies.

From there it was revealed that Charjabug would evolve into Vikavolt, the Stag Beetle Pokémon. Vikavolt can fly at incredibly high speeds and perform aerial maneuvers. When it need extra power Vikavolt will pick-up a Charjabug and use its electricity to unleash powerful attacks.

However those weren’t the only bug Pokémon announced, we were also given a look at a Fairy/Bug-type Pokémon, aptly named Cutiefly. Cutiefly is called the Bee Fly Pokémon Pokémon. It can detect the auras in living things and uses that info to seek out the plants with the brightest aura to feed on.

The Alola region is made up of several islands, each with there own protector and Tapu Koko (Electric/Fairy) is the guardian of the Melemele Island. Although despite being a protector Tapu Koko is a surprisingly fickle Pokémon. Tapu Koko also has the new ability Electric Surge which turns the battlefield into Electric Terrain when it enters the fight powering up all Electric-type moves.

The trailer also showed off a strange Loch Ness Monster-looking Pokémon called Drampa, which is a Normal/Dragon type. It may look like it enjoys swimming in Loch Ness and having blurry pictures taken of it, but Drampa actually lives high in the mountains and descends them every morning to feed on berries. Drampa are very gentle Pokémon , which is why it’s classified as the Placid Pokémon. Drampa especially loves children and can sometimes be seen around schools or playgrounds. It will only lose it’s jovial nature when a child it cares about is threatened. Because of that Drampa is also the first Pokémon to have the Berserk ability which increases its special attack when it’s HP is below half.

Next up, is the extremely colorful Water/Psychic Gnashing Teeth Pokémon called Bruxish. When it uses its psychic powers, which emanates from the growth on its head, it will grind its teeth causing other Pokémon to flee. Bruxish has the new ability Dazzling which prevents priority moves from striking first.

Finally, we have the Electric/Steel type Roly-Poly Pokémon called Togedemaru. Using it’s long needle-like tail as a lighting rod it absorbs electrical energy and stores it up for an attack. Some trainers have learned to allow Togedemaru to get hit my electrical attacks and release the energy back at the opponent.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will be out on November 18th for the 3DS, New 3DS, and 2DS.
