New Pokémon Masters Details Coming in Livestream Tomorrow

Last month, The Pokémon Company International announced an upcoming mobile title, Pokémon Masters, in its “Business Strategy Announcement” press conference. Developed by DeNA, the new game will feature some of the franchise’s most iconic trainer characters throughout past games.

The Pokémon Company International didn’t have many other details to share about the game during the press conference, though Tsunekazu Ishihara, the company’s CEO, did promise more information to come this month.

That time has finally come, as there will be a “special video” dedicated to the game tomorrow, June 27, at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET on The Pokémon Company’s YouTube channel.

The stream will reportedly run for about eight minutes, and provide “more details” about the game—“if you’re ready for them, that is,” according to the video’s description.

DeNA has worked to bring other iconic Nintendo franchises to the mobile gaming sphere, developing titles such as Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and Miitomo. News of DeNA working on Pokémon mobile game first broke last month, after the company released a financial report including their partnership with The Pokémon Company for a then-unnamed game in development due to release sometime before the end of the fiscal year (March 31, 2020). The Pokémon press conference later announced that the DeNA game in question, Pokémon Masters, would launch sometime before the end of 2019.

The brief gameplay footage from the press conference gave a general taste for the game. A few familiar faces appeared throughout the video, such as Brock, Misty, and Blue, in addition to some battling features, like triple battles and Z-moves. The characters also appeared to have a couple voice-acted phrases.

Tomorrow’s stream will probably build upon what information we already have, and hopefully show much more footage of the gameplay itself. You can find the Pokémon Masters footage from last month’s press conference below, and tomorrow’s stream linked above.
