This morning Atlus showed 15 minutes of new gameplay footage from the upcoming Persona 5. The footage was streamed live via the Niconico streaming service. The footage showed off various mini games, the combat for Persona 5, and that this iteration of the game would also include skills. The footage also shows the protagonist going on a movie date with new Persona character Futaba Sakura. The game play footage can be viewed below.
The official website for Persona 5, after the 15 new minutes of gameplay footage was shown, now displays a countdown. The countdown is leading to another Niconico live stream event, the Persona 5 Premium event. This event is set for July 19th at 7:30 PM JST. The Persona 5 Premium event is said to include seven new announcements regarding Persona 5.
The official website also has logos for each of the new announcements, with each one featuring a picture of a padlock. Each padlock logo has its own timer as well, with each one being a few minutes apart. The time between them also gives indication as to how long the event will be, roughly an hour and 20 minutes for all seven announcements. These padlock logos lead one to assume that they will fill out/unlock as they are announced in the live stream. Each padlock also has a red silhouette which may give some indication as to what that announcement is and this is up to interpretation. In order the silhouettes are: a piece of film, a star, a Persona style speech bubble, Japan, a van, what appears to be the Phantom Thieve of Hearts, and a PlayStation controller. These logos could be interpreted a multitude of ways and most likely will be until the official information is released July 19th.
Persona 5 is set to be released February 14th 2017 in North America for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
