New Overwatch Season, Heroes of Busan, Announced for Release Tomorrow

Almost two months after the release of Overwatch’s third Season, Into the Tiger’s Den, Blizzard Entertainment is back with another brand new season for the hero shooter. Season Four, which will be titled Heroes of Busan, does not release until tomorrow, August 11, 2026. Despite this, the social media team behind Overwatch has decided to release a trailer, confirming some major details about the upcoming fourth Season.

As revealed by the trailer tagline, teamwork is essential for success during Heroes of Busan. The reason behind the call for a heavier emphasis on teamwork, especially for a team based game, is immediately clear to longtime Overwatch fans. The city Season Four takes place in is called Busan, and “Busan is worth defending. Its streets have survived Omnic attacks, its skyline has become one of Overwatch’s most recognizable battlegrounds, and the MEKA Squad has spent years standing between the city and the next catastrophe.”

The next catastrophe, it seems, has already arrived. “The Junkers and Talon descend upon Busan,” each wanting something from the people of the city. While it is currently unknown what either one are after, this is not the first time the pair has teamed up together. For those unfamiliar with who these characters are, Junkers are scavengers, whereas Talon is described as a terroristic organization promoting extreme violence.

In response, “the MEKA base is called to action, and one long-awaited pilot finally steps into the roster.” This pilot is D.Mon, and she is the latest edition to the Tank Hero roster. Assuming the role of D.Mon, players will be able to “wield her Plasma Saber to cut through close enemies, take one for [their] teammates with a strategically placed Power Barrier, launch [themselves] anywhere with Propulsors, and trade close range pressure for the reach of a Fusion Repeater to [their] your opponents on the back foot.”

Even given D.Mon’s popularity as squad leader, she is not the only “MEKA Squad pilot showing up this season.” The social media team explains that, “during our Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania Event, you’ll get a chance to support your favorite MEKA pilot by completing challenges, earning rewards, and seeing which one is the most popular of them all.”

Heroes of Busan is intended to be released alongside an additional update to Overwatch, with revamped Battle Passes and new virtual rooms based on skill level for competitive players. Additionally, this update calls for an increased value of teamwork, as teams who usually group together will be rewarded in some way. While the update itself will not be out until 11AM tomorrow (PT), the trailer is available for viewing below:
