Well it’s been about 500 days since the last time Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 has gotten a costume update, but now that the final character of the Season 2 DLC, Elena, is coming out later this week on June 5th we’re finally going to get the third outfit for the Season 2 characters M. Bison, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, and Elena herself.
The costumes are genuinely very nice. Terry is straight out of the 90s, but his design is a reference to a basketball design he once rocked for some promotional material. M. Bison featured a fur collared winter bomber jacket, very reminiscent of Leon S. Kennedy’s iconic jacket from one of Capcom’s other iconic franchises, Resident Evil. You might be asking, “Why is Bison wearing chaps?” Well it’s because he rides a horse now. Elena’s outfit 3 has been described as very “art teacher”-esque which is true, it’s a pair of charming overalls and done up haircut and headband. But the outfit 3 you’re probably going to see the most of is, of course, Mai’s. Her costume 3 does a very good job of showing off her… design, and Capcom sure put the RE Engine’s physics to use as seen in her character VS screen emotes.
This will be a very busy week for Street Fighter 6 and its players, this outfit 3 announcement is but the first of many big news stories that’ll hit Street Fighter. The outfits are one thing but Elena herself is also releasing on the 5th, and Street Fighter 6 will be down for much of tomorrow in preparation for a maintenance patch as well as a balance patch that may very well make or break Street Fighter 6 as a whole, as many people have many things on their wishlist for the long overdue Season 3.
