New Mass Effect: Andromeda Video Reveals New Ship

Since the details that Mass Effect: Andromeda would be an all new story with new characters and galaxies, one question has been sitting in the diehard fan of the games minds; how can you replace the Normandy? Well, EA recently released a new video that gives some minor details about what the new ship and land rover have to offer.

In a video on their website, EA put out an Andromeda Initiative video that brings “new recruits” on a ride to explore the new vehicles in the game. The new ship has been dubbed the “Temptest”, and is detailed by the computers AI as being the fastest ship in its class, capable of traveling thirteen light years per day. The one thing that was made clear is that the speed is due to the fact that there is not much armor and there is also no main cannon.

Overall, from the video, it would appear that the ship follows the same general format of the Normandy, there is a conference room, a research room, engineering, armory, med bay, and lastly the cargo bay. The new rover or “Nomad” will be housed in the cargo bay and will be upgradable through the research bay.

There will also be the captains quarters, where the AI hinted that there would be the possibility of more love interest goodness to go on with the characters. I mean… who didn’t try and see if they could get all the scenes… right?

When touching down on a new planet, players will be able to traverse through the use of the Nomad. The Nomad seems like one hell of an off road vehicle that can easily handle even the most harshest of terrains. By traveling around the planet, players can scan the surface and deploy mining drones on to collect resources, a big feature from the previous installments.

With Mass Effect: Andromeda coming to a console near you, we must continue to sit by and patiently wait for its ever closer release date of March 21st. During CES’s Nintendo panel, a small combat video was shown to show some of the new powers and weapon combos. For a closer look click here.
