Today, over on the PlayStation Blog, Insomniac Games has provided some new details for what’s new with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. The game is a full next-gen remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man which was released in 2018. The remaster will have new assets, technology, and updates. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered launches with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition on November 12, 2020.
Graphical updates to Marvel’s Spider-Man include improved models and materials of the city environment and ray-traced reflections and ambient shadows. True reflections will appear on the windows of buildings. The characters have also been upgraded from higher fidelity skin, eye, and teeth shaders to individually rendered strands of hair. One of the biggest changes is a new face for Peter Parker.
Marvel’s Spider-Man will also include new features only available on PlayStation 5 including near-instant loading, Spatial 3D Audio on compatible headphones, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers with the new DualSense controller. There is also the option to play the game through Performance mode which targets 60 fps. New Photo Mode features include being able to place lights in the environment and the option to change suits. These new photo mode features were developed and are also available for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
The change to Peter Parker’s face came in order to bring the best performances for the next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games. The face of Peter Parker in the original version of the game was John Bubniak. In order to get a better match for Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, Ben Jordan is now the new face of the character.
Additionally, three new suits will be coming to the game. One of the new suits was revealed to be the suit worn in The Amazing Spider-Man. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is available in two ways. It is part of the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition which costs $69.99.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales can also be purchased by itself physically and digitally for $49.99. If you get the game physically, you can insert the disc into the PlayStation 5 which unlocks the PS5 standard edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales. This cannot be done with the Digital Edition of the PlayStation 5.
