The heavily anticipated Lycanroc event is currently available in the Americas for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Event Pokémon are rare Pokémon that can’t be obtained in game. Nintendo gives out event Pokémon at GameStop or other video game retailers across the world, usually at different times; just like the Shiny Tapu Koko event that hasn’t reach North America yet, the Lycanroc event started in Japan and went to Europe before making its way to the Americas.
The Lycanroc in the trailer is seen using Stone Edge, the most powerful rock type move in the game and Fire Fang on a Skarmory.
The Lycanroc is its Midnight Form, which usually is available through evolution in Pokémon Moon and in the wild in Pokémon Sun. It will be at level 50, with the moves Stone Edge, Fire Fang, Sucker Punch and Swords Dance. It will be holding the item Life Orb, which increases the power of Lycanroc’s attack moves at the cost of 10 percent of your current health. Normally, Stone Edge is learned via level up and Swords Dance can be taught using a TM. However, Fire Fang and Sucker Punch are egg moves that can be taught to its pre-evolved form Rockruff via breeding. When breeding with the event Lycanroc, both Fire Fang and Sucker Punch will be brought down to every Rockruff hatched. It will have its hidden ability No Guard, which makes moves it uses always hit, but moves that the opponent uses targeting Lycanroc also will not miss. Sometimes, a hatched Rockruff will have the hidden ability No Guard, while it could also have its normal abilities Keen Eye, which prevent its accuracy from being lowered and ignores evasion boosts or Vital Spirit, which prevents it from falling asleep.
For more information about Lycanroc, you can look on its page on Serebii, the go to website for all things Pokémon.
Players who want to get the Lycanroc with a specific nature and individual values, or IVs can safe before talking the the delivery man, who gives you the Lycanroc after you input your code in the mystery gift feature on the title screen and soft reset until you get the Lycanroc that you want. It is likely that the Lycanroc will have three perfect IVs, so if you want to use it competively, you will need to Hyper Train its other IVs using bottle caps after leveling the Lycanroc to level 100, which you can do by battling the Elite 4 over and over again.
