New Limited-Time Game Mode Comes to Rocket League Ahead of the Super Bowl

As the Super Bowl LV fast approaches, a new limited-time game mode is coming to the competitive soccer game, Rocket League. The developer, Psyonix Studios, has decided to, for a short time, allow American football to be played within the game.

This new game mode will be called Gridiron and changes the game from soccer to a four-on-four American football game. The physical ball changes from a soccer ball to a football and there are some gameplay changes as well. When a player’s car touches the ball, it becomes strapped to the top until another car touches it. This can make for passes or interceptions. Also, if players double jump, it will drop the ball from the player’s car. As for scoring, players will score three points if the ball is passed into the goal unconnected from a car, and score seven points if the ball is still attached to the car when entering the opponent’s goal. The full list of rules is available on the website which can be found here.

This event will also include another couple of event challenges for players to try to earn up to 20,000 XP as well as the Gridiron Guru player title. The NFL fan pack also makes a return which allows for players to purchase decals for all 32 NFL teams. It is available in the in-game item shop for 800 credits.

If this interests you, Gridiron will be available from February 2 to February 8, a day after the Super Bowl LV. If you do not already have Rocket League, it is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac for free.
