New Leak Allegedly Reveals GPU and Memory Specs of Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5

New information has leaked regarding the two next-gen consoles, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Sony’s PlayStation 5. According to Eurogamer, an unnamed person discovered some new information regarding Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The information was discovered on the 3DMark benchmark database and has allegedly revealed the GPU and the memory specs of the next-gen consoles coming out Holiday 2020.

According to the leak, PlayStation 5 will allegedly have eight Zen 2 cores with SMT, with as of yet undisclosed clocks. The report also claims that in terms of GPU, PlayStation 5 will have 36 custom Navi compute units at 2000MHz and will use GDDR6 memory, which is the same as the Navi 10 part in AMD’s RX 5700-series that can be found in PCs. If these claims are true, they would be quite a massive improvement over PlayStation 4 Pro, which features eight Jaguar cores, 36 custom GCN compute units, and an 8GB GDDR5 memory. Microsoft’s Xbox Series X will allegedly also have eight Zen 2 cores with SMT (also as yet undisclosed clocks) as well as having 56 custom Navi compute units at approximately 1700MHz. Xbox Series X will also allegedly have a GDDR6 memory. All of these leaks are currently unconfirmed at the moment but it is likely that more information will either be revealed or leaked at a later date.

While little more is known regarding the specifications of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, a Youtube channel ZONEofTECH revealed the PlayStation 5 Devkit back in October which validated an earlier Sony patent leak. The video discussed the design of PlayStation 5 as well as the numerous features such as an integrated camera above the ports. Gamers looking forward to PlayStation 5 may also be happy to hear that the next-gen console will be more energy-efficient than PlayStation 4. Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will support backwards compatibility, but Xbox Series X will allow players to enjoy their Xbox One games on day one of its release. Both of these next-gen consoles will be releasing next year on Holiday 2020.
