Atlus USA has released a new trailer for the latest installment in the King of Fighter series, King of Fighters XIV. The trailer shows off the “Official Invitation” team. The team includes Sylvie, Kukri, and Mian. In the recently released trailer each character’s move set, super, as well as few animations are shown off. This is the latest in the series of trailers previewing the upcoming game and the teams in the game. The other teams that have gotten their own trailer include: Kim Team, Fatal Fury Team, Villains Team, Japan Team, Yagami Team, and The Art of Fighting Team. King of Fighters XIV boasts 3D graphics that promise to preserve “the essence of KOF’S visual style”, which based on the previously released team trailers appears to be true. KOF XIV is also going to include a cast of over 50 characters, 19 being new to the series. This installment also includes what SNK is calling its most streamlined and refined controls since King of Fighters ’98. KOF XIV will also be a continuation of the “robust single player storyline” that fans of the King of Fighters franchise have come to expect from the franchise. Significantly improved online play and spectatorship via PSN is also being promised by the game’s developers. It seems from most of the announcements surrounding the game that the developers have tried to meet fan demands as much as possible and are marketing the game directly to the already existent hardcore fan base for the King of Fighters franchise rather than focusing on inviting in those who are not already familiar with the fighting game series.
King of Fighters XIV is slated for an August 23rd release in North America, exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Japan and Europe have an August 25th and August 26th release dates respectively.
