Ironhide Game Studios, the folks behind hit action/strategy mobile games like Kingdom Rush and Clash of the Olympians, are hard at work on their next mobile title, Iron Marines. Iron Marines will be a sci-fi RTS game, available on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam, that will take players to far-away planets full of “countless enemies, adrenaline, tactics and silly humor”. In a new press release today, Ironhide announced a whole host of new gameplay features, including a brand new playable hero, as well as revealing that beta testing is “about to go live”.
Looking quite a bit like a Protoss Zealot from StarCraft, Sha’tra is a powerful alien from “a race of warriors and hunters” that travels through the most dangerous worlds in search of the “Final Challenge”, a confrontation so extraordinary and impossible that the one worthy enough to achieve it can claim the Stellar Blades and rule their world. Sha’tra is a melee brawler hero, able to jump into the thick of things with his arm blades to take down numerous foes.
In addition to the reveal of Sha’tra, the new Iron Marines announcement shares several new details on the other gameplay features of the game. The player will have access to 8 special weapons, including orbital strikes, replicant mines, and freezing warheads, as well as 40 technology upgrades that improve units, bases, towers and powers. The player’s forces will go up against over 20 types of enemies ranging from indigenous lifeforms to robotic armies and alien monsters, as they do battle on two planets, the arid Sagan-1 and the metallic exoplanet Ascendaar.
