One year ago, the DOTA 2 community welcomed the 123rd hero, Primal Beast. Now the community is eager for Muerta, the Dia de los Muertos-themed hero. As of today, she has been added to the game with update 7.32e, called “The Dead Reckoning.” With this, the developers also announced that the larger update 7.33 has been pushed back until April.
DOTA 2 classifies Muerta as an intelligence-ranged hero. In the news statement, they describe her as “With her fearsome trickshots, summoned spirits, and a sidearm to spare, Muerta’s knack for taking lives was so impressive, Death himself put her on the payroll. A twin-pistoled engine of dead-eyed vengeance, Muerta shepherds wayward souls to the other side, whether they want to get there or not. And if they need more convincing, she’s ready to reveal her true form as a murderous spectral nightmare if it helps them die a little faster.” Muerta’s abilities are dead shot, the calling, gunslinger, and pierce the veil.
Muerta isn’t the only thing that comes with The Dead Reckoning. Valve has added a mini-game that allows players to gain flowers that then allows players to open Dead Reckoning treasure that includes sets with a separate purchase of keys to unlock the sets. In this treasure, there are different tiers. The first tier, rare, includes 8 sets in total. The second tier, mythical, includes 6 sets. The last tier, legendary, includes 2 sets.
Some of the new features added to the game are advanced battle stats, customizable quick casting, and improved friend lists. For DOTA Plus subscribers are allowed to use advanced battle statistics that include “real-time gameplay analytics. Dig deeper into your play style by sorting your complete Dota history by hero, role, game mode, and more.” The customizable quick cast allows players to ”individually assign which unit-specific abilities and items are triggered using key press or release. Check it out by selecting ‘Unit Specific Hotkeys’ and ‘Enable Quickcast’ for Abilities and Items in the Hotkeys tab of the Settings menu.” Lastly, the improved friends list allows players to favorite their friends to keep them on top of the friend list.
