In new update released yesterday on August 12th, Helldivers 2 included a plethora of new content and changes for players to interact with. Between new enemies, quality-of-life changes, and new modifiers and additions to the gameplay, Helldivers across all platforms certainly have a lot to look forward to with the new update. Here’s some of the biggest additions and changes that have come with Helldivers 2 Devoid of Liberty:
Two new enemies of Super Earth have joined the fray in the Illuminate forces, being the Crusher and the Wretch. The Crusher, in the patch notes from the newest update, is described to be able regenerate while taking heavy damage. Players are advised to focus hard on this new enemy and bring it down as quickly as they can. Meanwhile, the Wretch is described as quick and relentless, and will require players to have quick reflexes and precise aim to bring this enemy down.
New enemies aren’t the only thing players can look forward to in this latest update. The SEAF, the beloved infantry team that was introduced during the period where Super Earth was under attack, have joined the fray as modifiers on certain planets. These NPC soldiers will fight alongside with players, take orders from them, and will even emote with them. On the mention of emotes, players will now have an emote wheel of up to eight emotes of their choice, doubling the previous amount.
The level cap for all Helldivers has also been increased. The level cap has also been doubled past 150, and players will be able to get up to level 300, which includes 15 new ranks and titles that players will be able to earn as they keep playing. Lastly, the Warhammer 40,000 collaboration warbond has also arrived in this update, which many players who are fans of both Helldivers and Warhammer 40,000 have been waiting on for quite some time.
A lot of new additions have been included within Devoid of Liberty. Even though this isn’t the largest update that Arrowhead Game Studios has brought out, there’s still a good amount to call this a meaningful update to Helldivers 2. There’s certainly more on the way between now and the next update, many in the community asking for and coming up with concepts of a SEAF-themed warbond. And, with the SEAF joining on the defense and liberation of planets, it’s likely for that to happen. At the end of the day though, nothing but time will show what will happen next for Helldivers 2 and how its story will continue with each passing update.
