New God of War Now Fully Playable

The next title from the God of War series was a big surprise to all of those who saw the trailer at E3 2016, what with the ancient Greek Kratos now running around a Nordic environment hunting deer and fighting giants while playing dad to a young boy. Ever since that sneak peek, however, Sony has kept their mouths shut on this newest installment in the series. It seems Sony doesn’t want to reveal anything more until they have something really worthwhile to show fans, and its not like hype for the game will die down anytime soon.

Sony Santa Monica Studio’s creative director and God of War director Cory Barlog, however, does tend to answer fan questions on Twitter from time to time. Recently, a fan, fed up on lack of God of War news, joked that the game will just be a high def deer hunting game and received response from Barlog himself. In the tweet he says, “no…there is a whole game here. Just finished first full play through with the leads.”

Of course, just because the game is playable doesn’t mean its anywhere near finished. Most likely, the game is in a very early alpha stage, like one of those Early Access games on Steam with placeholder enemies and unfinished textures. Its still a very welcome sign of progress, though, and fans are eager to see something new soon. While Barlog didn’t give an exact date, he has promised to show fans “something really awesome when it is ready.” Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too long.
