After an extended stretch of teases, NetherRealm Studios has finally released the gameplay trailer for the fourth Kombat Pack DLC character Sindel for Mortal Kombat 11. “Scream Queen” Sindel returns to the Mortal Kombat roster after being present but not playable in the series’s previous installment Mortal Kombat X. Sindel appears to have had her story arc retconned, with her now being a wickedly willing and critical participant in husband Shao Khan’s evil plans for total domination.
The new gameplay trailer beings with Shao Khan’s “estranged” wife recapping the events of Mortal Kombat 9 with fellow DLC fighter Nightwolf, as Nightwolf gave himself in sacrifice to stop Sindel’s scheming during the Outworld invasion of Earthrealm. Then Sindel in her Revenant form gets right to it, bringing the pain to her nemeses with her updated moveset.
Sindel’s combat style heavily features her Kwan Dao polearm-style weapon, as well as her signature hair whips, grabs, and the bone-crushing banshee screams. There’s something new about Sindel for Mortal Kombat 11, too–a purple ghostly apparition that appears above her before her most potent banshee screams. It’s likely that this element factors in to Sindel’s ongoing character story. With her ability to poke at opponents with her Kwan Dao and her hair, combined with her arsenal of what are sure to be frustrating projectiles, Sindel is sure to be a great option for Kombatants who like to play from mid to long range and provoke their opponents into making mistakes.
The… other Queen of Edenia Sindel’s Fatality brings the focus to her iconic banshee scream, boosted by hew now ghostly companion. Sindel strings Nightwolf up helplessly in front of her, the perfect position for a life-shattering scream with enough force to pull the skin from his bones, then ending with an ultimate scream that blows him to spiritual smithereens.
The trailer also showcases four new costumes that will debut along with Sindel: A “Klassic” skin for Cassie Cage and a new “Gothic Horror” skin pack that gives Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, a mummy appearance to, in order, Raiden, Geras, and Cetrion.
For owners of the Kombat Pack, Sindel will be playable as an Early Access feature on November 26th, and available for individual purchase the week after. Mortal Kombat 11 and the first Kombat Pack are available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
