“Cmon, we’ve got work to do.” – Lifeline

Last summer, Electronic Arts announced that their battle royale Apex Legends would be coming to the Switch and Steam with the ability to play cross-platform. Originally slated for the Fall of 2020, EA had to delay the game for the Switch because of fears of the game not being ready. The game’s director Chad Grenier reassured fans in EA news update that it was only to make the port “the great experience Switch players deserve.” Last month, Apex Legends finally received a release date of March 9, 2021, and today, Apex Legends Official Twitter account tweeted the first gameplay footage on the Switch.

In case you’ve never heard of the popular battle royale or don’t know much about it, Apex Legends is a first-person shooter where players choose different characters and team up with others to be the last squad standing. Each character has their own unique abilities and strengths, so working as a team is very important. It is free to play, and you can purchase skins as well as unlock characters faster through purchase.

With a week left, fans cannot wait to play not only on the switch but also cross-platform with their friends and other players. The Switch port not only opens the game to a whole new player base, but since it will be on the Switch, Apex Legends players can take it on the go as well.

On Nintendo’s official website, the page was updated showing information about the game as well as the file size for the Switch. It is estimated to be around 30 GB, which means to play the game you’ll need to purchase a microSD card. In addition to the game, PowerA has made an Apex Legends controller for players who want sport the game’s iconic logo. Players can pick up these controllers at most retailers or order it off PowerA’s website.

The Tweet also informed players that Switch players can receive 30 Battle Pass Levels for free, double experience points for the first week, and a limited edition Pathfinder Skin exclusive to the Switch. Stay tuned for more information regarding the Apex Legends release.
