EA Sports released its first trailer for the next installment of the College Football gaming series, and there were plenty of new features that got teased. One of these new features was the inclusion of real world coaches, which EA expanded on in their website news article, saying they will include over 300 real world coaches. For example, now when you play with Penn State, James Franklin will lead his players to the field, as opposed to a randomly generated coach model. This decision shows a trend in what EA seems to be trying to achieve with CFB 26, with them looking to increase realism and immersion, based on their statements. Specifically regarding the addition of real world coaches, EA’s website said to ‘’Strategize like they would with their unique playbooks for a more authentic coaching experience’’.
Looking more at the athlete side of improvements, Road to Glory has been revamped, with gamers now having the ability to start their character in high school. This was seen in the trailer with a tease of a selection day cutscene, but EA also spoke about this mode’s improvements in more detail. One of the key additions mentioned in their statements is the addition of archetypes, with them saying there will be 10. This is a noticeable improvement, as CFB 25 had 4 archetypes you can choose from at the start of a gamer’s Road to Glory. EA also made significant changes to the recruiting process in Road to Glory, as they said:
Commit early if you’ve found the perfect fit for you or decommit if a better opportunity comes your way.
Dynasty will see a few improvements, but probably the most notable for the College Football gaming community is the addition of cross-play for Online Dynasty. Now friends that use both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can compete against one another. Regarding the way cross-play is set up in Dynasty, EA said ‘’To use cross-play, you’ll need an internet connection, the latest game updates, a valid EA Account, and a platform account on your chosen platform’’. This addition, along with the inclusion of high school in the Road to Glory storyline seems to be what has gotten fans most excited about CFB 26.
