A developer for Path of Exile has revealed that there will be a new expansion coming to the game, called Atlas of Worlds.
The goal of Atlas of Worlds is to reimagine to end game of Path of Exile, according to GameSpot. Players will be able to change the map as they want it, as well as the content within the map when they jump into the map. Atlas of Worlds has 30 more areas and 19 more bosses as well as buffed up look at all of the maps that already existed in Path of Exile.
The new maps aren’t in their respective areas for no reason. Grinding Gear Games added a narrative for each map, each contributing to an even larger main story overall. The new maps were designed with a higher difficulty:
Areas around the outskits of the new map are expected to offer content around level 28, while levels closer to the middle of the map–and the final bosses–will include content around level 86.
Grinding Gear Games said that they noticed that the longer players were staying in the game, the more the developers became aware that there was a lack of variety as they players continued to grind away at the lower level areas to get stronger. To counter that, the designers decided to allow the players to make the areas as difficult as the players want. The higher the level of the map, they higher level of items can be found. So if you’re missing some high level items for minions, you can go to an upgraded version of the graveyard in order to find the items you need to make your minion stronger.
The performance of Path of Exile has also improved. The developer said that the game will run at double the speed which will double the frame rate when there are many enemies on the map.
Path of Exile was originally released in October 2013 for Microsoft Windows thanks to largely successful crowdfunding campaign. The developer revealed that Atlas of Worlds will launch on September 2.
