New Details About Borderlands 3 Endgame And Microtransactions Revealed

After unveiling gameplay for Borderlands 3 yesterday, new details have been revealed concerning other aspects of the game, specifically, the post-launch plans for the game and how microtransactions will be treated for the game.

During an interview, lead boss designer Matt Cox shared some information about what Gearbox has planned for Borderlands 3 after launch.  He confirmed that there will be four story DLC packs and in-game updates and events such as raids.

He said that details about the endgame are going to be revealed at E3. “We’re going to be releasing more details about the endgame around E3. Like any other Borderlands game, we will have four story-based DLCs. We’ll have special events as well as raids. The details on how that shakes out will be announced later, but there’s plenty of endgame.”

During the gameplay event, CEO of Gearbox Software Randy Pitchford said that Borderlands 3 will not have any microtransactions, but that’s not entirely true.

He said ” And I’m sure we’re going to do all kinds of fun customizations like heads and skins, but we’re not doing any of that free-to-play junk. There’s not going to be any microtransactions, there’s not going to be any of that nonsense”.

Talking with PCGamer, Creative Director Paul Sage clarified that skins, heads, and auxiliary equipment are available to purchase and that they will not be pay-to-win. He also confirmed there won’t be any type of special currencies that you can buy to get these items.

Borderlands 3 is shaping up to be quite the shooter with all of its new gameplay additions and adjustments. The biggest addition is dual firing modes for guns providing players with new options to use against enemies.

Another big change includes how action skills have changed. Each Vault Hunter will have multiple skills that you are able to equip and augment to how you see fit.

With everything new in Borderlands 3, we’ll have to wait and see how everything pans out and how the endgame will function once the game releases on September 13 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
