Earlier today during the Nintendo Indie Highlight event, a new entry in the hit SteamWorld series was announced. SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is a deck building RPG that will be a launch exclusive for the Nintendo Switch, and it will release this year. This will be Swedish developers Image & Form Games’ next title after releasing SteamWorld Dig 2 back in 2017.
According to the game’s official website, the roleplaying card game is set to feature over 100 “unique punch cards” including cards such as Ice Shard, Burning Desire, Killovolt, and Fire Pillar, among others. Players will use these cards to construct decks that are used in turn based combat. In the game, players will control a party of heroes as they venture across the hand-drawn world of the game in a fight against an “ancient menace” with only their “wits and a handful of cards.”
Image & Form Games promises that the game will be a memorable and humorous experience for players as it mixes “traditional fantasy and steampunk robots.” The studio also gave a small description of what players can expect from SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech.
What awaits you is a luscious treasure chest filled with gold, dragons, vivid worlds, magic, knights in shining armor as well as XP, turn-based battles and all that good RPG stuff!
SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is the fifth title in Image & Form Games’ SteamWorld series since the original SteamWorld Tower Defense on Nintendo DSi in 2010. While the game is set to release on Nintendo Switch first, like the majority of the other titles in the series, the game is expected to release on other platforms in the future as well. SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech is set to release on Nintendo Switch at some point in 2019.
