New Darksiders III Patch Adds “Classic” Combat Option

THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games, the publisher and developer of Darksiders III, released a new patch today. While there are fixes and tweaks to the game, a new combat option is now available for players. If you are not a fan of the way the combat functions in Darksiders III, as it takes some cues from the Dark Souls games, then you can try the “Classic” combat option which makes Darksiders III‘s combat feel and play like the previous Darksiders games.

Essentially, one of the biggest changes that this will do to Fury, the main character of the game, is that it will allow Fury to dodge-interrupt her attacks like you were able to do with War and Death in Darksiders and Darksiders II. Another thing that you will be able to do is to use items instantly. You can switch between the two different combat options, “Classic” and “Default”, the latter being the original combat mode for Darksiders III, at any time. The change to the combat option will have no effects on the difficulty of the game or achievements.

Some of the other additions to the game in the new patch include improved ledge grab detection on Fury so she can grab ledges more consistently. There are also new items that players can get from Vulgrim, while the “Echo Mark” item allows players to refund the attribute points that they’ve spent. The “Health Lurcher” item allows players to purchase refills for Nephilim’s Respite. The level cap has also been raised to 200.

Some of the balance changes that were introduced in this patch include Fury no longer taking damage when she performs Arcane Counters, Havoc Form doing more damage, increasing Havoc Generation on Obscurus Enhancement, enhancing health and damage amounts on Fortifer Enhancement, boosting Lurcher Reward from destroying breakables on Leviathan Enhancement, and an increased chance to Spawn Wrath when killing enemies on Rage Enhancement. Darksiders III is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
