The Nintendo Switch has been a big nothing short of a success ever since it launched back in March of 2017. The system was pretty scarce at first, but Nintendo made sure to up the production of the hybrid console to meet increasing demands. Nintendo has been making some notable moves with the Switch with the most recent being the partnership with Tencent in order to bring the console to gamers in China.
And now that it’s been a couple years since the consoles release many are wondering if Nintendo has any plans for an upgrade on the Switch’s hardware. There have been various rumors of a new lower costing version of the Nintendo Switch. And now, a source from Bloomberg corroborates these rumors, and furthermore states that the console will be coming by the end of this June.
The report also mentioned that a more powerful version of the Switch that will include advanced features. It does note that these advancements won’t match up to the PlayStation 4 Pro or the Xbox One X, but will be intended for “avid” gamers. However, the source added that the enhanced Switch is not currently in development. And as for the current Switch model, it was simply said that the system will receive a “modest upgrade.”
In regards to when we might hear an official confirmation about these consoles, Nintendo does have earnings report later this week where it is possible that these new consoles will he noted. On the other hand, if this turns out to not be the case, it’s also plausible that they could be revealed during E3 2019. Since the source states that the lower priced consoles are set to release sometime by the end of June, that would make it just a short while between their official reveal and launch.
