New “Agile” Update Arrives on Gwent: The Witcher Card Game

The latest update for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is now live. Launched on the 29th of September, this update introduces the game’s first holiday event: the Mahakam Ale Festival. In addition to a number of game fixes and balance changes, the update has also made over 40 unit cards ‘agile’ – meaning they can be placed on any row of the game board.

CD Projekt Red provided some background for the festival, writing, “All have heard of Mahakam, but few have beheld the dwarves’ famed stronghold from within. Elder-in-Chief Brouver Hoog has no trust for travelers and opens his gates to them only with the greatest reluctance… unless, that is, they come to attend the great Mahakam Ale Festival.” During the Mahakam Ale Festival, which will run until October 12th, players “will be able to play three brand-new challenges on two levels of difficulty, and claim a unique player avatar, frame, and title in the process.”

In CD Projekt Red’s list of patch notes, many of the changes brought by the update are balancing adjustments, as the game is still in a public beta version. This update focused particularly on the Northern Realms, changing the strength values on certain cards. Between these changes and the number of cards that have become agile, CD Projekt Red will hopefully have provided for more flexible card decks and new tactical possibilities in gameplay. The remainder of the update is comprised of changes to individual card mechanics and regular bug fixes.

In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
