NetherRealm Teases New Mortal Kombat 11 Story DLC, Reveal Set for Tomorrow

It looks like the storyline in Mortal Kombat 11 is going to continue. NetherRealm Studios tweeted out a very brief teaser in regards to the game’s plot after it ends, which includes the talented voice of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who of course plays the sorcerer Shang Tsung. Without getting too much into the story, Raiden is seen talking to Lui Kang in the time dimension when three mysterious figures arrive out of a portal. One of the figures, Shang Tsung, advises against messing around with the time device seen in the middle of the area. At this point, the trailer stops and shows that we’ll be getting a full reveal tomorrow, May 6, at 6:00 am PST.

Despite being such a short trailer, the fact that we get to hear some more voiceover work from Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa makes this all the more worth it. The story in Mortal Kombat 11 is arguably the best the franchise has ever seen, and while most fans look forward to the Arcade sections and the online multiplayer, there’s still a plethora of context that coincides with every single Fatality that ends up being dished out. In addition, Mortal Kombat 11 has also received some outstanding DLC fighters thanks to the Kombat Pack which included Sindel, The Joker, and most recently Spawn.

Ever since NetherRealm Studios took over in 2010, they’ve successfully woven an intricate plotline that started in Mortal Kombat (2011), which essentially reconnected the older games’ story which had become a bit overburdened with so many fighters. This continued with their next game, Mortal Kombat X, which mixed up the narrative even more with major character changes and a newer, younger generation of Kombatants. Finally, in Mortal Kombat 11, time travel became the central theme, which apparently is what the upcoming reveal will be about as well.

As we said earlier, the Story DLC reveal is set for tomorrow at 6:00 am, PST. Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch.
