Naser: Son of Man Brings 2-D Cover-Based Shooting to Alternate Steampunk World of 1875

Announced as a part of  Gamescom 2020, the 2-D shooter Naser: Son of Man recently received new gameplay trailer. Set in a 19th-century Steampunk world that has been conquered by a robot ruled by Queen Elizabeth Zero, the game follows the Persian prince Naser to avenge his country. The developers of Naser, Enlightened Robot created an official interactive website for the game that includes news, trailers, screenshots, and more information about the game’s story and combat.

Combining basic platforming mechanics of a 2D platformer, Naser will require players to climb and explore the areas he interacts with, as he gains unique weapons and abilities that contribute to his overall speed and damage. Similar in style to the combat of Gears of War, players will also be able to utilize objects in the destructible environment to take cover from enemy fire. The newly released gameplay trailers show off some of the dynamic 2-D combat players will experience as they fight Queen Elizabeth Zero’s army.

According to a story description on the official website, Naser: Son of Man is set in an alternate timeline of 1875 where an army of robots invade and conquer the entire Earth. In an effort to avenge his conquered nation and family, the Prince of Persia is revived by the god of the game, as the two team up to save the world. Naser will utilize the unique robot technology for additional weaponry in his arsenal, but he will also be able to control some of god’s powers in the game. Using God’s Giant Fist to smash enemies or blow up a large obstacle are just a few of the ways the trailer shows off how combat works in the game. Despite its recent announcement during Day 2 of Gamescom, no release date has been confirmed yet for Naser: Son of Man. More information about the game and news about it can be found on the official website.
