Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden Releases Expansion And New Character In Late July

Since we talked about Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden back in October, the top down, turn-based tactics title released in December and has received mostly positive reviews overall. The team at The Bearded Ladies Consulting is now ready to take the next step this month with the game’s first expansion, Seed of Evil. The update will bring loads of new content, more areas, more ways to play, and another Mutant to add to players’ squads. While the content will be immediately accessible the devs urge new players to finish the main story first to avoid spoilers and match the difficulty levels of the new content.

Seed of Evil introduces a new threat, an enemy that can control plant life and poses a danger to the Ark. The well-trained squad of Stalkers need to figure out who this enemy really is, which is easier said than done. Players will have to explore vast new locations and take on unfamiliar foes, while continuing to improve their Mutant’s mutations and equip them with brand new gear. Mutations will have a new mechanic that will allow players upgrade Mutants’ mutations. For example, Dux’s Moth Wings ability can be transformed into Wings of the Sniper in order to remove ranged penalties when firing while flying.

The story of Seed of Evil will take place just after the ending of the main story of the base gain. Dux, Pripp, Bormin and the rest of the Stalkers will get some more help with these new threats though. The new Mutant, Big Khan, is moose humanoid who has returned from the Zone after serving a “self-imposed exhile.” He is enormous in size and is able to deal big critical damage to groups of enemies with his unique mutantion Flame Puke and Ground Pound. Adding Big Khan to the team, the Stalkers will explore strange new places like the Mausoleum of Suburbia and the Hall of Electric Coffins.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden launches Seed of Evil July 30 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
