Moss: Book II, Jett: The Far Shore, Arcadegeddon & More Showcased During July’s State Of Play

Earlier this week, PlayStation announced that the next State of Play would be coming later this week. This one would be focused on indies, updates from third parties, and a lengthy gameplay segment from Deathloop. It was not going to be focused on what’s next for PlayStation Studios or the next generation of PlayStation VR which was announced earlier this year. Instead, we got some new game announcements as well as updates to games that will be coming later in the year and beyond.

 Moss: Book II has been announced for PlayStation VR. the sequel picks up right where the first game finished following the successful rescue of uncle Argus. However, a winged tyrant who leads the Arcane forces has shifted its attention to Quill and is now on the hunt.

Moss: Book II will feature new mechanics, environments, enemies, abilities, and new weapons.

Arcadegeddon is a new arcade-inspired multiplayer shooter from developer IllFonic. Following an attempt to save his local arcade from a faceless mega-corporation, Gilly, the owner decides to take all the top arcade games and connect them. However, the corporation embeds a virus, and it’s up to you and your friends to save the game and the last hometown arcade.

Arcadegeddon can be played solo or with up to three friends. The game provides a mix of PVE and PVP experiences that will allow for all different speeds of play from mini-games to looking for hidden chests and defeating numerous enemy types and boss levels. Players can accept challenges and earn street cred from nine different gangs as well as acquire abilities that you can utilize in combat.

The game features several different maps or biomes that players will explore. Each biome is very distict from one another. A total of five biomes will be available when the game launches in 2022. Players can choose from seven different weapons classes and about 28 different weapons to choose from. Weapons feature a range of effects from fire, electricity, freeze, nano-tech, and more. There are also over 25 hacks and 8 Surge Gauntlet abilities that players can acquire.

The game is available to play now on PS5 in Early Access which will last for seven months. During this time, Arcadegeddon will get planned seasonal updates as well as patches as needed each month.

Tribes of Midgard is set to release later this month on July 27. Today, during the State of Play, the developers of the game shared what the plan is for the game after launch.

Tribes of Midgard will be kept fresh with seasonal updates called Sagas. The first season starts when the game launches on July 27. A mid-season update will be coming in September following Season Two in November and its mid-season update in January 2022.

Players can find and equip runes, powerful modifiers that increase certain stats, imbue abilities, and more. There are 30 runes in the game. Examples of runes that you can find are Bjorn Again which revives downed allies and immediately triggers a healing pool of 1000 HP around them. Coldblood allows you to regenerate 50 HP per second when suffering from cold temperatures.

The game’s first Saga will have players taking on a fearsome beast chained up in a mysterious lair. In order to unlock the lair, you’ll be engaging in quests and events and clearing dungeons. Some of the events that players will be doing are the Roosters of Ragnarok event where players will have to find and hunt roosters. The Prisoner event has players trying to break out captured prisoners. The World Tree Stag event has players tracking down four magical stags that live in the branches of Yggdrasil.

Each Saga will have a Saga Boss questline. This Saga Boss can be found after crossing an ancient crumbling bridge that has to be rebuilt in order to cross.

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch got a new trailer released today showing off more of the combat that the game has to offer. The game will be available on September 7 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Hunter’s Arena is a new melee-focused battle royale where players have to master skills of swordplay and martial arts and survive to be the last one standing. Players can choose from 17 different hunters that range from close range to long-range.

In a match, players will have to face 30 other players as well as battle demons to collect loot and grow stronger. The game will be released as part of next month’s PlayStation Plus lineup for PS4 and PS5 on August 3.

A new gameplay trailer was released for SifuThe trailer showed off how every time the player dies, instead of having to start over, the main character ages. As he becomes older, he will have more experience, skills, and knowledge to apply to the fight just like the old masters of classic Kung Fu movies.

The trailer also revealed an updated release window. Instead of 2021, Sifu will be released in early 2022.

More information and gameplay details have been revealed for Jett: The Far ShoreThe game has you step in the shoes of Mei who is an interstellar explorer part of a team searching for a new home for their civilization.

In order to do so, Mei has to trace the source of the hymnwave signal that led them to a mysterious planet. Mei has to scout the planet for habitability without bringing harm to the unique flora and fauna. Players will have to observe, inspect, and catalog your findings.

The first look at game footage has been revealed for Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami ChroniclesIn the game’s solo play mode, players can go through the stories of the anime’s Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc up through the Mugen Train Arc.

Players will play as protagonist Tanjiro Kamado as well as other characters from the manga and anime. While Tanjiro has a basic skillset with high controllability, other character’s fighting styles are different.

The game will be released on October 15, 2021.

A new trailer was revealed for Lost Judgment which will launch on September 24, 2021. The trailer showcases two of Takayuki Yagami’s new investigative actions: athletics and stealth. The trailer also shows off the game’s three martial arts styles: Crane, Tiger, and the new Snake style.

Eventually, the investigation leads to a local high school where players can engage in various mini-games and activities.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut is coming to PlayStation 5 on September 24, 2021. It’s the definitive experience with new content and enhanced gameplay features.

More weapons, equipment, vehicles, missions, modes, areas, expanded storylines, and enhancements to the UI will be coming to the game. The game will also take advantage of PlayStation 5 with the use of DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, 3D audio, near-instant load times, and the option between Performance Mode with upscaled 4K and up to 60 FPS and Fidelity Mode in native 4K.

Lastly, an extended gameplay walkthrough of Deathloop was shown. In the video, Colt is going through and hunting down Aleksis “The Wolf” Dorsey.

 

One of the main things that were revealed in the walkthrough is the new ability called Reprise. Instead of dying and restarting the loop, the player can rewind a little before restarting the loop. Players have two chances to continue. If you die a third time, the loop restarts.
