The long awaited sequel of the Mortal Shell franchise has officially released its open beta for consoles. Officially announced on June 6th of 2025, Mortal Shell II has had fans of the series looking forward to its release. Although the PC version of the beta dropped on June 5th of this year, fans of the Mortal Shell series can now finally play the beta of Mortal Shell II for both the Xbox Series X|S and the PS5.
The description of the video above confirms that the Mortal Shell II beta will feature the first three hours of gameplay that will be part of the official release on August 20th. Moreover, these first three hours of the beta are also confirmed to carry over to the game when it fully releases. Players who try the beta for themselves won’t have to start from scratch, and can continue the full game with all the progress that they made in the beta. On top of all this, fans who pre-purchased the Mortal Shell II Devout Edition can begin the game as soon as August 17th, three days before the official launch.
Although console players had to wait a bit longer to try the Mortal Shell II beta, they can finally test the first few hours of game for themselves, now that it’s been released on all platforms. Fans of the Mortal Shell series have been waiting since the game’s first release for word on a sequel, as the first game within the series was all the way in 2020. Six years later, and fans only have to wait a few more weeks for Mortal Shell II to hit the store. In those weeks, loyal fans and interested gamers alike can try out the beta for themselves, and see just a bit of what the sequel has in store for them.
