More Information on Doom: The Dark Ages DLC in New Interview; Called a Celebration of the Series

Doom: The Dark Ages released May 15th of 2025, and has left its mark as another game within the Doom franchise. Over year later, on June 7th of this year, a DLC expansion was announced for the game, taking up the name Doom: The Dark Ages Revelations. This DLC has sparked interest within the Doom community, whether it be the fans who enjoy the visceral shooter/slasher combination of the gameplay, or the additional lore that will be introduced. In a recent interview with IGN, conducted by Ryan McCaffrey, Hugo Martin reveals new details and information about the DLC that will be dropping next Tuesday on the 7th.

In IGN’s interview, Martin discusses some of the lore implications the DLC will have. He claims that the DLC is a celebration of the Doom games as a whole, and is meant to explore a part of the Doomslayer’s story that hasn’t been touched upon since the days of the original Doom games. Martin also goes into detail about how (most of) the original games are connected to Doom (2016) and the other newer games, and what direction they want to take the Doomslayer’s story in since his early days.

As for mechanics, Martin also discussed some of the new content that players will be able to play with. There will be six new levels for players to slay demons in, as well as a new “chain spear” weapon, that functions in a similar sense to the meat hook from Doom: Eternal. The IGN article states that the DLC and all the content that comes with it will make for anywhere between 10 to 12 hours of gameplay, making it longer than the two-part DLC of Doom: Eternal’s DLC, The Ancient Gods.

Overall, Hugo Martin has revealed quite a bit of information for Doom fans to absorb, including both lore and gameplay alike. Fans are sure to be eager for July 7th to come and the DLC to drop. Although Doom: The Dark Ages Revelations will be releasing over a year since the games release, fans are still likely to come ripping and tearing into the new content that will come with it.
