More Conflicting Konami Rumors Arise

If you’ve been following the story to any degree, you know Konami has been in the spotlight for a lot of unconfirmed rumors regarding business practices, future game development plans, and internal conflicts. For nearly a year now, rumors have been surfacing suggesting Konami intended to cut ties with the AAA market, and Metal Gear Solid lead designer Hideo Kojima has been cut from every part of the company aside from MGSV:TPP, and even in that case his name was removed from the package. The latest development involves an actual Konami employee.

Important to remember is that rumors are rumors and are to be taken as such. On the other side of that coin, Konami has not made any public confirmations or denials of any of the rumors flying around, until yesterday. On the Metal Gear Solid subreddit, reddit user ComplexOrganisms posted an answer s/he received from Konami representative to a ticket submitted questioning their intention to leave AAA game production behind. The unnamed representative denied the claims, take a look. Larger version available here.

“I can promise you that we’re definitely not leaving Metal Gear behind or anything like that.” So there it is in black and white, but it follows the Konami-news example in that it must be taken with a grain of salt. The representative is far from an authority and fails to corroborate in any way. Regardless, obfuscation is the result this rumor business tends to bring about, and it only gets worse. The message also reads, “[w]e’re still definitely working on console games and franchises such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, PES and all the rest,” directly conflicting with a reports just earlier today stating MGSV:TPP wouldn’t be getting any narrative DLC content, implying the creative muscle has moved on.

Konami has been the center of so much gossip that it wouldn’t be unacceptable to expect more to come. Check in here for the update whenever it happens.
