Mordheim: City of the Damned entered its third phase this past week and received a major content update. The RPG based off the classic tabletop game Mordheim is set in the Warhammer world where warbands fight in lethal skirmishes to see who is fit to survive. The update introduced several features including a new playable warband, objectives in skirmishes, and extended warband management.
There are already three warbands for players to choose from, including Sisters of Sigmar, Mercenaries of the Empire, the Skaven of Clan Eshin and now with the new update, the Cult of the Possessed. Unlike the Sisters of Sigmar whom were added in the last update, the Cult of the Possessed are a far more ruthless warband who seek to appease their master the Shadowlord. They slaughter any trespassers who enter their masters domain and use unique abilities such as Terror or Boon of Chaos to bring enemies to their demise.
Three new objectives were added to the skirmishes playlist; Marked for Death, Crush their Will, and Wyrdstone Rush. In the Marked for Death objective, you will use your strategic skills to hunt down specific enemy units around the area. Crush their Will mirrors capture the flag where players protect their own while attempting to capture the enemies idol. Lastly Wyrdstone Rush requires you to protect and gather green shards.
The extension for warband management allows you to control which units you send in and out of battle. This update helps players dictate which load out is suitable for upcoming matches and which units to head out into the heart of the battle.
Since the game is still in its early access mode, more updates and features will be added throughout the upcoming months including warband leveling. If you enjoy RPG and strategic tactical games, the Mordheim: City of the Damned is right up your alley. It’s available on Steam now at $31.99 and has a 86% positive rating.
